Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)

Plot Summary
"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" features Sam Witwicky (LaBeouf) taking his first tenuous steps into adulthood while remaining a reluctant human ally of Optimus Prime. The film centers around the space race between the U.S.S.R. and the USA, suggesting there was a hidden Transformers role in it all that remains one of the planet's most dangerous secrets. The villain of the third film will be Shockwave.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon Audience Reviews
"Transformers 2 was only worth watching for Megan Fox and some of the robots. I guess we're just down to the robots, now."

"I liked the first 2 so I'll be sure to see this."

"The bad Transformers after Sam for something he has, running and screaming in slow motion and plenty of explosions. So yeah I'm not excited. If Michael Bay was replaced by a good director, then I'd want to see it. It will be even worse if Josh Duhamel character dies and we get even more of Tyrese's bad acting."

Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows - Part 1

SYNOPSIS

From celebrated director David Yates “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1” brings back the highly acclaimed cast including Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final adventure in the Harry Potter film series, is a motion picture event, told in two full-length parts.

Part 1 begins as Harry, Ron and Hermione set out on their perilous mission to track down and destroy the Horcruxes--the keys to Voldemort's immortality. On their own, without the guidance or protection of their professors, the three friends must now rely on one another more than ever. But there are Dark Forces in their midst that threaten to tear them apart.

Meanwhile, the wizarding world has become a dangerous place for all enemies of the Dark Lord. The long-feared war has begun and Voldemort's Death Eaters seize control of the Ministry of Magic and even Hogwarts, terrorizing and arresting anyone who might oppose them. But the one prize they still seek is the one most valuable to Voldemort: Harry Potter. The Chosen One has become the hunted one as Voldemort's followers look for Harry with orders to bring him to the Dark Lord...alive.

Harry's only hope is to find the Horcruxes before Voldemort finds him. But as he searches for clues, he uncovers an old and almost forgotten tale--the legend of the Deathly Hallows. And if the legend turns out to be true, it could give Voldemort the ultimate power he seeks.

Little does Harry know that his future has already been decided by his past when, on that fateful day, he became "the Boy Who Lived." No longer just a boy, Harry Potter is drawing ever closer to the task for which he has been preparing since the day he first stepped into Hogwarts: the ultimate battle with Voldemort.

The Good
"Although it feels far too long, Yates and Kloves thankfully mix the dark drama with lighter comedy, allowing the characters to grow organically."
"Pretty artful, complex, compelling work for a film that technically doesn't have a beginning or end."
"as an outsider to the works of J.K. Rowling, it's nevertheless a well-constructed, competently-told and generally engaging tale that suffers only from being but part of the whole story."

The Bad
"This stagnating set-up for a finale wallows in self-seriousness. There's so much glumness and lethargy here, a new character--call him Excelsior Lugubrious--emerges from the mega-budget, moody mist, threatening to slay Death himself with Sleep."

Scream 4 (2011)

Synopsis

Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) comes face to face with her greatest fear after returning home to Woodsboro and getting caught in the center of another bloodbath in this sequel from director Wes Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson. Touring the country in promotion of her new self-help book, Sidney arrives in Woodsboro and quickly reconnects with her old friend Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette), who has recently gotten married to Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox). Though a much-welcomed family reunion with her aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell) and cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) goes a long way in helping Sidney lay her tragic past to rest, old fears come back with a vengeance when Ghostface reappears on a murderous mission to make up for lost time.

The Good
"A worthy sequel certain to scare the bejesus out of Scream franchise fans with a strong stomach for gratuitous gore."

"Bright, bloody and enjoyable, and completely worth seeing when you stand back and look at what the filmmakers have done to subvert a beloved but played-out genre."

The Bad
"Despite all the claims to reinvention throughout the film there is little of it actively on display. Scream 4 really is just more of the same ... which in a sense makes it the perfect, or at least a representative, horror sequel."

"It is better than Scream 3, but so are most things... I, personally, cannot recall the last time a film insisted on its own pointlessness with quite this much ferocity."

Water for Elephants (2011)

Synopsis
Based on the acclaimed bestseller, WATER FOR ELEPHANTS presents an unexpected romance in a uniquely compelling setting. Veterinary school student Jacob meets and falls in love with Marlena, a star performer in a circus of a bygone era. They discover beauty amidst the world of the Big Top, and come together through their compassion for a special elephant. Against all odds -- including the wrath of Marlena's charismatic but dangerous husband, August -- Jacob and Marlena find lifelong love.

The Good
With “Water for Elephants,” Christopher Waltz proves there’s no better actor than him at doing bad guys. His August is so demented and compelling, he makes everyone and everything pale by comparison. Lovers of a good and touching animal story, as well as fans of Pattinson will also duly enjoy “Water for Elephants.”

The Bad
“Water for Elephants” had all the right ingredients to become the next big thing: a bestseller, a wonderful story, A-list stars. Perhaps fearing that he’d lose a segment of the audience, Lawrence compromised and made it into a glossy, rather shallow and soulless narrative, from which viewers will probably take very little when they leave the theater.

The Truth
“Water for Elephants” will be a hit with fans of the original book and, of course, a chunk of the huge “Twilight” fanbase. It’s not an extraordinary film, but it does have moments of pure brilliance. It’s a relief to see that Hollywood is still perfectly able to make a movie that, at the very least, aims to be different.
